Cleveland, OH – CLEVELAND, Ohio — Two Cleveland residents were hospitalized Sunday with symptoms consistent with carbon monoxide poisoning.
Firefighters were called to a home in the 3800 block of Daisy Avenue about 10:30 a.m. and learned a man and woman were exhibiting symptoms including dizziness and nausea, a fire department spokesman said.
Paramedics took the man and woman to MetroHealth Medical Center. Their current conditions are unknown, the spokesman said.
Readings taken inside the home showed elevated levels of carbon monoxide, so firefighters called a Dominion East Ohio crew.
It appears the issue was caused by a ventilation problem with the chimney, a Dominion spokesman said. Dominion workers shut off the home’s water heater and boiler, and the home is now safe to occupy, he said.
Workers will return to the house at a later time to perform repairs. The residents have been advised not to use the water heater or boiler until then.
