Provincetown, ME – A propane explosion blew out several windows of a one-story home in the West End of town Friday night.

At 6:30 p.m., Provincetown firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire at 60 Commercial St., Fire Chief Mike Trovato said.

The shingle-sided cottage is a guest house on property owned by Robert Foy. He rents the space out to two tenants who were at work at the time of the explosion.

Foy and another man were inside their home located in front of the cottage and heard the blast.

They just had two propane tanks filled Friday morning, Foy said.

The cottage is set back from the main house on Commercial Street.

Neighbors stood outside watching firefighters at work as several hoses were scattered on the ground.

Trovato said he did not know if the propane tanks ignited outside the home or if the leak spread inside and then ignited.

While the fire itself was knocked down in about 15 minutes, firefighters were still on the scene just after 7 p.m.

breaking through the cottage walls and making sure all the sparks had been extinguished.

Nobody was injured in the blast.
