Cocoa, FL – About 50 people were evacuated and one person was taken in an ambulance from Eastern Florida State College in Cocoa this afternoon because of a carbon monoxide leak, fire officials said.

They started up a generator and the fumes leaked into the building, Cocoa Fire Department District Chief Greg Anglin said. The building filled with fumes, three people (were) overcome.
One man was taken to Wuesthoff Medical Center, Anglin said. He estimated 50 or 60 people were evacuated became of the fumes. Fire crews will remain on scene until the fumes are safely cleared from the building.
We’re going to go in and evaluate the carbon monoxide levels, he said.
