Norfolk, VA – Four people were sent to the hospital Sunday after fire units discovered a carbon monoxide leak in the 1000 block of Hampton Boulevard in Norfolk.
Norfolk Fire-Rescue units responded to a female employee in the kitchen area who was not feeling well, according to a press release. As the crews entered the kitchen, a carbon monoxide alarm attached to a medic bag sounded. Firefighters treated the employee on the scene.
Firefighters performed tests to pinpoint the source of the gas. The source of the carbon monoxide was determined to be coming from plumbing in the kitchen area, according to officials. They turned off the gas, ventilated the structure and reported that no evacuation was required.
Three more people were transported to the hospital for evaluation.
