Roanoke, VA – A carbon monoxide issue at a Roanoke housing complex sent two people to the hospital on Monday.
Roanoke Fire-EMS spokeswoman Tiffany Bradbury said firefighters were called to the Southview Condominiums in the 3500 block of Peters Creek Road shortly before noon Monday after high levels of carbon monoxide were reported in the building.
Two contractors who were working with a gas-powered saw in a hallway were taken to a hospital for carbon monoxide exposure, she said. The building was evacuated as a precaution, Bradbury said.
About 20 people were checked for carbon monoxide poisoning but were allowed to go back inside at about 1 p.m. after the building was ventilated and determined to be safe, she said.
