Hot Springs, AR – A one-story single-family residence at 346 Tanglewood Road that was being remodeled was destroyed by an explosion Monday evening that was suspected of being caused by natural gas, Lake Hamilton Fire Chief Doug Davey told The Sentinel-Record Tuesday.

Davey said they got the call at 5:54 p.m. and responded with 12 firefighters, three engines and an aerial truck with six firefighters assisting from Morning Star Fire Department. Garland County Sheriff’s deputies, LifeNet, a constable and crews from Entergy and Centerpoint also responded.

Davey said the exact cause of the explosion was still under investigation Tuesday, but they believe it was a result of a natural gas leak.

He said at least one person was transported to the hospital as a result of the explosion.

“We used a drone to take pictures under the house in the crawl space area because it was not safe to send a firefighter under there due to the damage to the house,” Davey said.

Tanglewood is located off Old Brundage Road which is off the 700 block of Amity Road south of Hot Springs.
